At the Galley of Lorne Inn it is our aim to provide the finest of the malts that this country has to offer. They can be viewed in both the Public (21 bottles) and Lounge (29 bottles) Bars, together making our collection of 50 Scottish Malt Whiskies. Like the fine wines of the world, the single malt whiskies of Scotland are grouped by region. Traditionally there were four whisky distilling regions; these regions have more to do with old regulations and taxation systems than anything else.

Here at The Galley of Lorne Inn, Andrew has, in conjuction with our supplier Gordon & MacPhail, compiled a collection of 50 carefully chosen whiskies for our patrons to savour, from the traditional 10, 12, 14, 15 and 16 year old malts to our three Galley Rare Vintage Classic Malts, the oldest being our amazing 1958 Glen Grant, more than ably complimented by our 1964 Longmorn and a 1969 MacPhails Collection Glenrothes.

AUCHENTOSHAN AMERICAN OAK
LOWLAND
- Auchentoshan is from the Gaelic Achadh an Oisein and translates as "the field of the corner". The malt is known as "the breakfast whisky" due to its sweet nature. Built in 1800 and located at the foot of the Kilpatrick hills on the outskirts of Clydebank in West Dunbartonshire near the Erskine Bridge.
- Colour:Bright gold.
- Nose:A vibrant bourbon infused vanilla and coconut with layers of zesty citrus fruit.
- Taste:A refreshingly smooth whisky taste. Lively, with vanilla cream, coconut and white peach.
- Finish:Crisp, with sugared grapefruit and a lingering hint of spice.

GLENKINCHIE 12
LOWLAND
- Glenkinchie lies in a glen of the Kinchie Burn near the village of Pencaitland, East Lothian. Situated about 15 miles from Edinburgh. The name 'Kinchie' is a corruption of 'De Quincy', the original owners of the land. Its origins date back to around 1825 when it was founded by brothers John and George Rate.
- Colour:Deep gold.
- Nose:Soft and delicate aroma, with grassy and slightly sweet, fruity notes.
- Taste:Light body. Smooth and malty with a touch of peat.
- Finish:Dry and clean, with a soft and mellow afterglow.

GLEN SCOTIA DOUBLE CASK (NO AGE)
CAMPBELTOWN
- Scotia was established in 1832 by the town’s Dean of Guild James Stewart and Provost John Galbraith. By 1835 Scotia was one of the 29 thriving Distilleries in Campbeltown. The town's boom in whisky production was due in part to steam navigation, allowing whisky to be shipped directly to Glasgow in just 9 hours.
- Colour:Russet.
- Nose:Vibrant fruit emerges first (peach and green apple), followed by chewy vanilla fudge, a hint of salinity, then an array of oak-y spices.
- Taste:Opens with more fudge with a little dusting of powdered sugar. Powerful, oily and a touch herbaceous with some brandy character.
- Finish:Vanilla oak and gentle spice.

AN CNOC 12
HIGHLANDS
- The distillery Knockdhu was the first to be built by Distillers Company Ltd (DCL) in 1893 and a break with their Lowland grain based business. Between 1931 and 1933, as well as during the Second World War, production ceased and the distillery remained closed. In 1983, the operation was re-established.
- Colour:Gentle amber with a slight yellow hue.
- Nose:Aromatic, quite robust. Honeysuckle, fresh flowers, cereals, barley.
- Taste:Medium, good sweetness. Madeira, winter spices, mocha, Crème de Cacao, herbal hints and toasted granary bread.
- Finish:Medium length, great interplay between oak and barley.

CLYNELISH 14
HIGHLANDS
- Clynelish Distillery is located on the A9 at the coastal holiday town of Brora, Sutherland With beautiful views of the North Sea and the hills to the north - where the Clynemilton burn runs over seams of gold in the rock. With this water, Clynelish distillery produces a fruity, waxy, slightly smoky single malt.
- Colour:Gold.
- Nose:Rather peaty, a pleasant sea freshness. Fruity, spicy. Malted barley on a background of floral hints.
- Taste:The taste confirms the nose, peaty and spicy.
- Finish:Smoky and dry with a slight hint of saltiness.

HIGHLANDS
- Established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, a trader who made his fortune in illegal opium imports from the Far East. The Dalmore is located in Alness about 20 miles north of Inverness. The waters of the River Averon, which runs through the village, are used to produce its whiskies.
- Colour:Rich, deep, golden mahogany.
- Nose:Intense and firm. Well structured silky smooth malty tones with a hint of Oloroso sherry. Lingers with fragrances of orange, marmalade and spices.
- Taste:Good attack on the mouth, more elegance than muscle. Almost a concentrated citric mouth-feel captivates.
- Finish:An aftertaste of great abundance rewards the palate. A Highland malt of great distinction.

DALWHINNIE 15
HIGHLANDS
- Situated high in the Grampian mountains, Dalwhinnie is near the geographical centre of Scotland. Dalwhinnie has been for centuries a meeting place, principally for the cattle drovers travelling down from the North, or over from Skye and the Hebrides, to the main markets at Crieff and Falkirk in the south.
- Colour:Yellow gold.
- Nose:Wholemeal and honey quality to the nose and slightly smoky.
- Taste:Smooth, soft and lasting flavours of heather, honey sweetness and vanilla followed by deeper citrus-fruit flavours.
- Finish:Long smooth, lingering, surprisingly intense finish starting sweetly, giving way to smoke, peat and malt.

EDRADOUR 10
HIGHLANDS
- World renowned as the smallest traditional distillery in Scotland and arguably the most unique. Dating back to 1825, Edradour, hidden in the very heart of Perthshire, this picturesque ‘little Model Village’ is steeped in history and boasts over 25 distinctive expressions of Highland Single Malt Whisky.
- Colour:Golden.
- Nose:Sugared almonds and a hint of Oloroso.
- Taste:Smooth, creamy, light malty taste.
- Finish:Mellow warming finish.

FETTERCAIRN 12
HIGHLANDS
- In operation since 1824, making it one of Scotland's oldest malt whisky distilleries. The distillery is snugly tucked away at the foot of the Cairngorms from which it takes spring water supplies. This area is one of Scotland's most fertile regions, and is why Fettercairn is hidden amongst its forests and glens.
- Colour:Sunlight and amber honey.
- Nose:Refreshing nectarine, white flowers and milk chocolate emerge initially. Black toffee and subtle roasted coffee provide darker notes underneath.
- Taste:Tropical fruit and sticky Jamaican ginger cake add a sweet and spicy depth which a flicker of bitter herbs and vanilla complement.
- Finish:Orchard fruits and soft spices linger.

GLENGOYNE 10
HIGHLANDS
- Situated in a wooded valley in the southern Highlands close to a small river that flows into the famous Loch Lomond. The distillery, which takes its name from "Glen Guin" or Glen of the Wild Geese, has been producing an exceptional single malt scotch whisky for nearly 200 years.
- Colour:Golden yellow. Clear and bright.
- Nose:Sweet, with toffee and popcorn aromas. Slightly nutty, with fresh green apples coming through.
- Taste:Clean, sweet. Green apples and grass with a hint of sweet liquorice.
- Finish:Sweet and malty.

GLENMORANGIE 10
HIGHLANDS
- Located in Tain, on the south shore of the Dornoch Firth. Their success is based on a history of innovation starting in the 1860s. It became one of the first distilleries to sell their whisky outside of their local area. The eight stills are the tallest in Scotland at 5 metres (17 feet) high and make the stillhouse resemble a cathedral.
- Colour:Yellow gold.
- Nose:A rich nose, flower and spicy hints with some vanilla wood notes.
- Taste:The taste confirms the nose, delicate honey wood taste with a subtle hint of nuttiness.
- Finish:Smooth and relatively long.

GLENTURRET 10
HIGHLANDS
- On the banks of the Turret River two miles north west of Crieff in Perthshire, Scotland. The distillery is hidden in the valley and its secluded location may have contributed to its early history as the site of several illicit bothy stills. The high hills to either side of the distillery were thought to act as lookout points for the smugglers.
- Colour:Pale lemon gold.
- Nose:The nose is full with malted barley and toasty cereal. Notes of nutty oiliness, a touch of fruit peels and a herbal tones.
- Taste:Fruity and rich with thick sweetness and well-balanced oaked tannins. A touch of cut hay and a little earthen notes.
- Finish:Medium-length with a beautiful sweetness.

INCHMURRIN 12
HIGHLANDS
- Loch Lomond Distillery, who produces Inchmurrin, was commissioned by the Littlemill Distilling Company in 1965 with first distillation in 1966. In 1984, the distillery fell silent, to use the traditional term. Happily though, Alexander Bulloch and the Glen Catrine company acquired the business and resumed production in 1987.
- Colour:Honey.
- Nose:Creamy sweet cereals and allspice. Hints of toffee apples and pear drops. A little caramel and furniture polish.
- Taste:Smooth, rich palate entry with barley malt and salt caramel. Dried herbs, candied peels and allspice.
- Finish:Medium-long finish. Spicy.

LINKWOOD 12
HIGHLANDS
- Located in woodland, just a mile south east of Elgin, the distillery was established by Peter Brown in 1821. Named after the old mansion house that it was sited on. During the 1840’s output under James Walker, was 20,000 gallons a year. William Brown, son of the former Peter Brown, rebuilt it in 1873.
- Colour:Young Sauternes.
- Nose:Floral, apple blossom, pantry spices, fruit sherbet and traces of treacle.
- Taste:Sharp, incisive pepper, rapier-sharp clean barley, traces of oak and aniseed, some green stewed apple. Sweet and creamy.
- Finish:Quite long, dry, touch of anise.

OLD PULTENEY 12
HIGHLANDS
- Founded in 1826 at the height of Wick's celebrated herring boom, the Pulteney Distillery is one of the most northerly on the British mainland. When road links to the town were yet to be established, the distillery was dependent on the sea for its supply of barley and for the shipping out of its malt whisky.
- Colour:Deep amber, red gold (with a slight pink hue).
- Nose:Medium to high intensity and complexity. Dry with a hint of sea air.
- Taste:Dry, medium bodied and smooth, faintly salty with a slight sherry note. Elegant touches of smoke and peat.
- Finish:A clean dry finish.

TULLIBARDINE 1993
HIGHLANDS
- Tullibardine is one of the youngest Scottish distilleries; it was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delmé-Evans and C. I. Barrett. Located in Blackford, Perth and Kinross, it is situated close to the Ochil Hills and the Danny Burn, their main water sources.
- Colour:Light gold.
- Nose:Mild, warm and sweet.
- Taste:A mix of cereal grains, fruity-lemony sweetness and a peaty creaminess. Thick oily body. Fruity with a crisp citric tang and a rich buttery softness.
- Finish:Long and fragrant with spicy notes.

ABERLOUR 12

- Aberlour is situated at the confluence of the rivers Lour and Spey near Ben Rinnes. Although its labels read 1879, the Aberlour distillery was first founded in 1826 by James Gordon and Peter Weir. In 1921, Robert Thorne & Sons Ltd sold the distillery to W. H. Holt & Sons.
- Colour:Golden amber with hints of ruby.
- Nose:Buttery cinnamon toast, concentrated raisin in the background, astringent woody touches, glacé cherry, barrel char.
- Taste:Big sweet butter hit, with maple syrup, brown sugar, plump raisins, nutmeg, milk chocolate and more of the char from the nose.
- Finish:Medium length, with chocolate, raisins and more char.

ARDMORE 1996
SPEYSIDE
- Founded by Adam Teacher in 1898. His family being well established in the whisky blending industry decided to open their own distillery to help meet demand. Nowadays, 95% of the 5 million litres of whisky produced there each year goes to their flagship blend, Teacher's Highland Cream.
- Colour:Dark straw.
- Nose:Light and fresh - some freshly cut grass. A delicate peat note emerges and a pronounced hint of menthol.
- Taste:Some spice. A delicate sweet cured edge develops. A subtle ashy edge becomes apparent.
- Finish:Long, sweet and a hint of peat smoke.

- The 1890’s were boom years for the industry and in early 1892 work began to convert an 18th century mansion, Balvenie New House, into a distillery. The building took fifteen months to complete and on 1st May 1893, the first distillation took place at The Balvenie Distillery.
- Colour:Full gold.
- Nose:Sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla.
- Taste:Smooth, mellow with beautifully combined flavours. Nutty, cinnamon spiciness and a delicate layer of sherry.
- Finish:Long and warming.

- Benromach is a Speyside distillery founded by Duncan McCallum and F.W. Brickman in 1898 and currently owned and run by Gordon and Macphail of Elgin. It is situated near Forres in Morayshire and is fed with spring water from the Chapelton Springs in the Romach Hills beside Forres.
- Colour:Golden.
- Nose:Rich Sherry influence with fruit & nut chocolate, delicate cinnamon spice, fresh green apples, with a malty and light peat smoke in the background.
- Taste:Delicious forest fruits - raspberries and brambles, Sherry, malt creaminess with a stronger peat influence.
- Finish:Long and lingering finish with subtle Sherry and peat.

CARDHU 12
SPEYSIDE
- In 1811 John & Helen Cumming sited their still at Cardow Farm on the Mannoch Hill, high above the River Spey. It is alleged that Helen Cumming distilled the first gallon of Cardhu, the only malt whisky to be pioneered by a woman. She continued to contribute to Cardhu's success well into her 90's.
- Colour:Pale, light amber.
- Nose:Medium-bodied, with a hint of sweetness and peat. Excellent bouquet.
- Taste:Smooth, light to medium, mellow flavour. Malty sweetness and a hint of peat.
- Finish:Long, lingering and sweet. Some peat comes through.

CRAGGANMORE 12

- The distillery is situated in the village of Ballindalloch in Banffshire. Founded in 1869 by John Smith on land leased from Sir George Macpherson-Grant. The site was chosen by Smith both for its proximity to the waters of the Craggan burn and because it was close to the Strathspey Railway.
- Colour:Golden.
- Nose:Rich, dryish and complex, fragrant and flowery, with notes of grass and smoke.
- Taste:Clean, round, malty and well-balanced.
- Finish:Lingering malt and soft smoke, a grand Speyside afterglow.

CRAIGELLACHIE 1997
SPEYSIDE
- Connoisseurs Choice | Craigellachie is at the centre of the Speyside whisky producing area. The name Craigellachie means 'rocky hill' and refers to the cliff that overlooks the Spey. Having released only a handful of official bottlings, the distillery's product is currently primarily used for Dewar's blended whisky.
- Colour:Dark Straw.
- Nose:Light and fruity with hints of lemon and kiwi. Coconut and toasted malt aromas linger.
- Taste:Chilli spice initially on the palate, raspberries and dark chocolate flavours develop with a lingering hint of tobacco.
- Finish:Long and balanced.

THE SINGLETON OF DUFFTOWN 12

- Founded 1896 on the south side of Dufftown it draws its waters from Jock’s Well in the Conval Hills. Being named after the town assumes that it was also the first distillery to be set up in Dufftown. However Mortlach (1824), Glenfiddich (1887), Balvenie (1892) and Convalmore (1894) were all established earlier.
- Colour:Golden.
- Nose:A rich nose with sweet fruits, liquorice and a hint of citrus.
- Taste:A sweet smooth taste with a touch of blackcurrant.
- Finish:A warm and pleasantly dry finish.

GLEN GRANT 1958
RARE VINTAGE | SPEYSIDE
- Founded in Rothes by two former illegal distillers and smugglers. In 1840, brothers John and James Grant decided to take out a license. With the sea and port of Garmouth nearby, the River Spey at its feet and barley-growing plains nearby, all the basic ingredients were close at hand. This time the distillery was legal.
- Colour:Deep brown.
- Nose:Sweet and rich with hints of toffee and caramel. Mulled fruits and Sherry elements combine with subtle oak aromas.
- Taste:Complex array of flavours with sweet, Sherry flavours and hints of apples and pears. Some toasted, drier notes also present.
- Finish:Sherry wood.

GLENALLACHIE 1999
SPEYSIDE
- Connoisseurs Choice | The Glenallachie distillery in Aberlour was built in 1967 by Mackinlay McPherson. It was bought and mothballed by Invergordon Distillers in 1985. They sold it to Campbell Distillers in 1989, who restarted the distillery, and expanded the capacity with two extra stills.
- Colour:Straw.
- Nose:Dry grass, roasted malt and a delicate sweetness. Some fragrant, spicy aromas begin to develop.
- Taste:Peppery with charred oak. A little honey sweetness with fragrant, floral aromas also present.
- Finish:Perfumed, fragrant.

GLENDRONACH 12

- Founded in 1826, the extrovert James Allardice produced his 'Guid GlenDronach' single malt at Forgue by Huntly. Down the years, the distillery he created has thrived under the stewardship of far-sighted investors like Walter Scott (1847) and Captain Charles Grant (1920).
- Colour:Deep amber.
- Nose:Sherry, nutty, sweet citrus fruits.
- Taste:A nice presence of sherry, sweet refined. Slightly acidic.
- Finish:A warm and pleasant finish, sherry/wood background.

GLENFARCLAS 10

- Based in Ballindalloch, the distillery was first granted a license in 1836 when it was run by Robert Hay. Glenfarclas translates as meaning valley of the green grass. The distillery is now owned and run by the Grant family. The distillery has six stills and are heated directly by gas burners.
- Colour:Vibrant straw-gold.
- Nose:Sherry-sweet malty tones combine with delicate smokiness, releasing subtle spices. Warming the glass reveals honey, vanilla and pear drops.
- Taste:Delicately light, with a mouth-watering combination of maltiness, smokiness and sherry sweetness. Hints of dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves.
- Finish:Long, smooth and spicy, with a delicious, yet delicate, lingering smokiness.

GLENFIDDICH 12
SPEYSIDE
- In the summer of 1886, William Grant with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition. Together they began building his Distillery in Dufftown by hand, stone by stone. After a single year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for Valley of the Deer.
- Colour:Golden.
- Nose:Distinctively fresh and fruity with a hint of pear. Beautifully crafted and delicately balanced.
- Taste:Characteristic sweet, fruity notes. Develops into butterscotch, cream, malt and subtle oak flavours.
- Finish:A long smooth and mellow finish.

- In 1824 George Smith built his distillery in Ballindalloch close to Josie’s Well, a natural spring that bubbles out of the dark earth of Glenlivet. Fed by winter snows and rain, the pure mountain water makes its underground journey to the spring through mineral-rich layers of limestone and granite.
- Colour:Vibrant gold.
- Nose:Grassy and floral, with a delicate perfume. Soft citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit, joined by nutty notes of almond and hazelnut.
- Taste:Soft mouthfeel with elegant orange and lemon notes, then some vanilla and toffee adding richness.
- Finish:The juicy citrus notes linger, inviting you to take another sip.

GLENROTHES 1969
RARE VINTAGE CLASSIC | SPEYSIDE
- Established by the burn of Rothes in Speyside in 1879, the first whisky ran off the stills on the 28 December 1879, the same day as the Tay Bridge disaster. The distillery had a shaky start and a chequered history. Over-proof whisky is notoriously highly flammable and thus paid the price with a succession of fires.
- Colour:Golden amber.
- Nose:Reminiscent of Christmas cake - rich fruits with some fresh orange peel notes and a hint of chocolate.
- Taste:Mouth warming, some peppery influences, fresh lemon zest and creamy.
- Finish:Long and nutty - hazelnuts.

KNOCKANDO 12
SPEYSIDE
- The distillery was founded in 1898 by John Thomson in Knockando, Moray, on the river Spey. It was the first distillery in Scotland to be built with electric lighting. In 1905 it was linked directly to the Great North of Scotland Railway, which connected Grantown-on-Spey with the main towns of north-east Scotland.
- Colour:Gold.
- Nose:Fragrant, but with more pronounced almond aroma.
- Taste:Smooth, creamy fruity. Hint of smoke.
- Finish:Long with slight sweetness and a hint of smoke and coffee.

LONGMORN 1964
RARE VINTAGE CLASSIC | SPEYSIDE
- Founded in 1893 by John Duff and partners, the Distillery is on the site of a small church, built about three miles outside Elgin, that was dedicated to the Saint Marnan or Marnoch and was known as Lann Marnoch - the church of St Marnoch. Over time, the name evolved and was anglicised to become Longmorn.
- Colour:Deep mahogany.
- Nose:Almonds, dried fennel, ground coffee with a little dark chocolate at the back.
- Taste:Mixed spice, rich dried fruits and a lingering nuttiness.
- Finish:Long with notes of raisins and marzipan.

MACALLAN 12 DOUBLE CASK

- Founded in Craigellachie, Moray in 1824. In 2009, The Herald reported that Macallan was "the world’s third largest-selling single malt with over 500,000 cases a year, and second largest by value. In 2014, a decanter of Macallan's 'M' whisky sold at auction in Hong Kong for a record breaking $628,205.
- Colour:Gold.
- Nose:Creamy butterscotch with a hint of toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard and newly felled oak.
- Taste:Deliciously honeyed, wood spices and citrus, balanced with raisins and caramel.
- Finish:Oak lingers, warm, sweet and drying.

MORTLACH 12
SPEYSIDE
- Founded in 1823, alongside other legal distilleries founded in the wake of the Excise Act, Mortlach is officially founded on the site of an older illicit distillery becoming the first legal distillery in Dufftown, now one of the epicentres of Speyside whisky distilling.
- Colour:Gold with amber hues.
- Nose:Damson, toasted almond, cinder toffee and heavy barley.
- Taste:Warming oak and soft raisins, with a bit of olive oil salinity mixed in.
- Finish:A bit jammy, a bit nutty, some lingering citrus oils cutting through.

ROYAL LOCHNAGAR 12

- Situated beside her Majesty the Queen’s Scottish Home, Balmoral Castle at Crathie. The distillery takes its name from the mountain, Lochnagar, which is a Munro, a mountain over 3000ft high. The Royal name was bestowed upon the distillery by Queen Victoria on the 12th September 1848.

- Nose:Slightly smoky, malty vanilla. Sherry, fruity.
- Taste:Smooth, malty a little salty acidic bitterness.
- Finish:Pleasant malty and relatively long finish.

- Located in Knockando in Banffshire. Tamdhu comes from Gaelic for 'little dark hill'. Founded in 1897 by a group of assemblers, wishing to engage in the production of their own whisky. The Tamdhu whisky is almost completely used for the production of blended whiskies, such as The Famous Grouse.

- Nose:Orange Starburst, cinnamon swirls and toasted oak, along with some mint chocolate.
- Taste:Lots of plum, juicy raisin, fried banana, raspberry jam doughnuts and oak spice.

- Located on the eastern edge of the Monadhliath Mountains. Tomatin reaches back to the 15th Century when drovers filled their flasks from an illicit still at the Old Laird’s House. A formal distillery was commissioned on the site in 1897, and at 315 metres above sea level it is one of the highest in the country.

- Nose:Lemon, panatella and pine forest. Slightly green with vanilla.
- Taste:Cracked pepper and sweet barley with pineapple cube sweets. Waves of warming oak beneath.

- Founded in 1964 by the Glasgow whisky traders Hey & Macleod and W. & S. Strong, which set up a working company. In 2009 Tomintoul entered the Guinness Book of World Records by producing the largest bottle of whisky in the world, containing 105.3 litres of 14 year old Tomintoul malt whisky.

- Based in Kirkwall, Orkney, it is the most northerly whisky distillery in Scotland, half a mile farther north than Scapa distillery. Founded in 1798, presumably by Magnus Eunson. In 1984, Highland Park was the only whisky ever to have scored a rating of 100% by the regular tasting team of The Scotsman Newspaper.

- Even though the distillery didn't open until 1810, the people of Jura were entitled to distill whisky for personal consumption, until a ban was introduced in 1781. The distillery fell into disrepair, but in the 1960s two local estate owners Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smith rebuilt the distillery. By 1963 their work was complete.
- Colour:Rich gold.
- Nose:Honeyed barley and peaches in syrup, with light wafts of fragrant wood smoke.
- Taste:Oily and subtly spicy at first, before notes of earthy vanilla pod and chocolate-covered raisins develop.
- Finish:Another touch of smoke rounds things off.

- The only distillery on the Isle of Skye at Carbost. Built in 1831 after a number of false starts, rebuilt 1880–87 and extended in 1900. Was the favourite of Robert Louis Stevenson. In his poem "The Scotsman's Return From Abroad", Stevenson mentioned "The king o' drinks, as I conceive it, Talisker, Islay, or Glenlivet."
- Colour:Deep gold.
- Nose:Powerful peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, the liquor of fresh oysters, a citrus sweetness.
- Taste:A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke, strong barley-malt flavours, warming and intense. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of pepper.
- Finish:Huge, long, warming peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.

- Founded as Ledaig distillery in 1798 by John Sinclair, ten years after the founding of Tobermory by the British Fisheries Society. Constructed and licensed in 1823. Having closed in 1930 (due to US prohibition) it was reopened as the Ledaig Distillery (Tobermory) Ltd. in 1972.
- Colour:Amber gold.
- Nose:Pear, peach and apple, with a dusting of brown sugar. Greek yogurt, barley and a hint of cinnamon pastries.
- Taste:Rounded malt notes once again, now a touch oily. Still packs a hearty helping of stone fruit sweetness.
- Finish:A flash of orange peel, soft sawdust, toffee and dates.

- Producing whisky since 1798, and began commercial production in 1815. The name is derived from the Scottish Gaelic: Àrd Beag, meaning Little Height. Ardbeg whisky is considered to be among the peatiest in the world, with most expressions using malt with a phenol content of 55ppm.

- Lies on the South Eastern shore of Loch Indaal, and is one of the oldest in Scotland, said to have been established in 1779. - On the Rhinns of Islay, producing mainly single malt whisky, but also artisanal gin. Built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers - William, John and Robert. One interpretation of the Gaelic word Bruichladdich is "stony shore bank", referring to a post-glacial raised beach, or more pertinently may be "rocky lee shore".

- Nose:Beginning with barley sugar and a hint of mint. Moving onto freshly cut wildflowers; buttercup, daisy, myrtle, primrose and cherry blossom.

- Bunnahabhain (pronounced bun-a-hav-in, from Scottish Gaelic Bun na h-Abhainn, meaning "foot of the river" is a village on the northeast coast of the isle. The village was established in 1881 to house the distillery's workers, and the distillery still employs the majority of the village's workers.

- Nose:Full, refined and rich with oily peat hints, toffee, liquorice and flowers.
- Taste:Rather intense but still sweet with some peat hints, a rather rustic but still delicate taste.
- Finish:A pleasant long full finish, coming back on ripe fruit and honey.

- Caol Ila is derived from Gaelic Caol Ìle for "Sound of Islay" (lit. "Islay Strait") in reference to the distillery's location overlooking the strait between Islay and Jura. It was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson. The entire structure of the distillery was demolished in 1972 and a larger facility bulit and opened in 1974.

- Nose:Oily yet fruity. Lightly medicinal, wet grass, linseed oil, smoky wood. With water good biscuity malt and smoky bacon notes.
- Taste:Smoky smoothness and a sweet start. Rounded, mid-weight. Good smoky intensity mid-palate. Clean juicy fruits, oil and dry smoke.

- It is named after the area of land at the head of Loch Laphroaig on the south coast of the Isle. Established in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston.
